Lost Dog Help
Immediate steps to take if your dog goes missing. Do not panic, and do not chase.
1. Do Not Chase After a Loose Dog
tay calm and if you spot your dog, sit on the ground and say familiar phrases that your dog likes to hear.
2. Create a Flyer
Hang simple, brightly colored lost dog signs all over the area where your dog became lost and where they are currently being spotted.
3. Post on Social Media & Apps
Post your lost dog flyer on social media and make sure your phone number is included. Post on the Neighbors app, Nextdoor app, and Citizens app.
4. Document Sightings
Document all sightings including exactly location, date/time and which direction the dog was traveling. Map out the sightings to determine your dog's path of travel..
5. Notify Authorities
Notify local police, local animal shelters and local railroad companies if you live near train tracks.
6. Set Up Food & Water Stations
Leave bowls of food and water at the point of escape as well as at each location the dog is being spotted, if safe to do so.
